Problem Note 54580: The Select Data dialog box in SAS® Web Report Studio might not work properly with Microsoft Internet Explorer 9 and later

DetailsHotfixAboutRate It

Overview

If you are using Microsoft Internet Explorer 9 or later, the Select Data dialog box might not work properly in SAS Web Report Studio. Here are some of the problems that have been reported.

  • You might not be able to select an information map, a cube, or a table even though you can see it.
  • You might not be able to see any information maps, tables, or cubes in an open (expanded) folder. This is true even though you have the necessary permissions, and you are in the correct roles.
  • You might not be able to expand all of the folders in a folder tree.
  • You might not be able to expand a folder that you have collapsed, even though you previously were able to see objects in the folder.
  • You might not be able to collapse a folder that has been expanded.
  • You might see only a subset of information maps, tables, and cubes in a folder.

Note: Different users might see different behavior. This might be due to differences in the major or minor release of Internet Explorer, or one or more specific browser settings.

Workarounds

There are multiple workarounds for this issue.

  • The most reliable workaround is to use a different supported browser. For a list of supported browsers, click the "Web Browsers and Plug-Ins" link for your release of SAS® from the Third-Party Software Requirements for Use with SAS Software and Applications page.

  • Instead of using the Select Data dialog box to create a new report, select File ► Open and navigate to the data source that you want to use. This method creates an ad hoc report that contains a subset of data items and either a list table or a crosstab. Once the report is open, you can select Data ► Select Data and choose additional data items for the report. You can also modify the layout as needed.

  • If possible, do not create deep folder structures for your data sources. It might even be necessary to store data sources directly in the Shared Data folder.
